That's what they look like. If it's a cam with significant overlap, the Flowdisaster mufflers could definitely be an issue.
High overlap cams REQIRE a FREE flowing exhaust.

My cam choice was wrong.
242/242/.495/.495/108 1.6 rocker on the intake.

Add 16 deg on intake, 20 deg on exhaust & more lift, little heads = big cam.
Peak tq around 5000rpm indicates peak hp around 6500 if its all working right, you're just short on time/area to get there.
Re: Building A Nostalgic 1970s Fuelie Headed 350 SBC
Considering the small cam this is a good realistic result.
It will run very well on the street and at the track.
Dyno sheet date ? What was the correction factor that day?

Thanks, not sure how good a 6100 RPM peak will run LOL, good thing the car has 4.10 gears! Heres a graph of the observed uncorrected power in a 23.50 baro 6400 feet elevation. I think the correction was around 1.28-1.29. I NEVER SET THE DATE, JUST HOW IT IS IN MY SHOP

I agree, I should have had you pick the cam! I built another engine with a factory stock cam 350 HP 396 cam just to see what would happen, I will probably post that up, it was interesting.KnightEngines wrote: ↑Wed May 12, 2021 8:55 amAdd 16 deg on intake, 20 deg on exhaust & more lift, little heads = big cam.

That’s way more corrected hp than my friends 350 Pontiac Stocker makes......that runs 10’s @3200lbs.
Somewhat handy with a die grinder.

Please do. I like seeing the smooth idle, stock cam stuff.
Re: Building A Nostalgic 1970s Fuelie Headed 350 SBC
Try a Holley 300-36 Dual Plane intake over the RPM. My 358 ran quicker with the Holley over the RPM intake and pulled to 7200 with ease.

So what exactly is wrong with this? Factory iron and a dual plane intake with a mild cam, what’s not to love? I would have liked to see another 500 or so RPM to see how the power curve looks, but otherwise I see an honest graph showing good effort.vortecpro wrote: ↑Wed May 12, 2021 9:08 amThanks, not sure how good a 6100 RPM peak will run LOL, good thing the car has 4.10 gears! Thanks, I was just hoping for a little more, and a higher peak.

A buddy of mine has a 1970 Chevelle. It's still a full weight car with no fiberglass and stock interior. It's powered by an iron headed 355 and runs 7.38 in the 1/8 with antique parts.
Stock block
Heavy 11:1 TRW pistons
950HP carb
Ported Victor Jr.
Phase 2 Chevy Bow-Tie heads. (he spent 16 hours home porting them)
Old solid roller he got in trade with all the parts. Around 0.630" lift. Dirt track style grind.
Shifts at 7k rpm.
8" Converter
400 Turbo
5.13 gear
It runs really well for what it is. He constantly wins the local 7.50 index races. It is still a street car, and he drives it on the road... just within a 20 mile radius of home because of the converter/gear. Engine has been in the car for around 7-8 years at least, and has never been touched.
