titanium valves

Post by Bumps440 »

Is there an RPM where you should seriously consider using Titanium valves. 150 gm intake valve going over 8000rpm should I be looking Titanium?

TI valve I am considering is 94 gm I know it would be much easier to control that than a 150 gr valve.

Opinions wanted ....

Yeah, you want Ti.
Not just easier to control, also reduces stress on the entire valve train, springs, rockers, lifters will all last longer.
Big up front cost, but they'll pay for themselves over time.

On a 8500 rpm SBC the springs lasted 3 times as long with 20 lbs less spring pressure

Is it true that you need lash caps on Ti valves?

Depends on the valve, if it has a hardened insert no, if not yes, the latter with a cap is a better set up and less weight
