Engine combo?

Post by rickb33x »

3/8 mile dirt track, main events usually some what dry slick but with tackiness on the higher line.
2800 min-3200 lbs max
8" tread width on grooved tires. 7,000 rpm max rule

357cid sbc
650 holley DP
1" HVH SS4150-AL spacer
2925 super victor intake -1206 fel pro port match to 185cc promaxx with 2.02-1.60 valves Max 7" intake height-block to carb pad
46-48 lbs 4340 crank(50 lbs min with crank gear, and balancer)
6.0 rods
370-400 gram pistons with low tension .043/.043/3mm rings or similar
solid cam, solid lifter, must be .540 intake, .560 exhaust max, I want to say rpm range is 3200-6800 roughly, max of 7000
23 degree valve angle, cast iron aftermarket head, no rule on valve springs. Any header but must use a muffler. roller rocker arms allowed, 7/16" stud ok. Must use pump gas

What would ideal cam specs be on this?
Make any sense to run higher ratio rockers on the intake?

youll end up with about 255degr@.050 int, and 268 exh on a 106lc. bet the cam king can dial one in for you.

360 max, No more than 10.0:1 compression
Pump gas
Does it make any sense with a 4.040 bore to go to a 2.05 valve on the intake with the rpm rule?

I ran close to the same combo with my 358 SBC and I used the old Elgin 1090P cam, worked very well and I could spin that little pump gas engine to 7200 with ease. Popped a roller cam in the same engine and picked up a tenth and 1 mph so I say the Elgin cam works pretty good.

Is the super victor too much for 3,000-6800 rpm range(max 7000 rpms)? Our track does dry slick often, so keeping the tires hooked up is important.

What is an ideal intake?, porting is allowed by the way.

Would porting the super vic dividers back at the top, and blending the plenum entry be ok for this power level, rpm range?

Super Victor makes more tq. to 6000 and the 300-25 Holley makes more power above 6000 from my testing. I do know that porting the plenum on the Super Victor really helps a lot.
