Did the engine have the factory production cam?

1. Do ported heads help when the cam is the cork?
2. Where will peak HP be made?
3. Is the factory 390 HP 427 HP rating correct?
4. I'am I wasting my time?
5. How good is the factory cast iron intake?
At the altitude you test and run at, the results may be nothing like the results you would see at sea level.

I expect it to run 11.70s @ Denver @ 3600 pounds. NHRA correction factor is .9405 @ Denver. 11.75 X .9405 = 11.05

Conditions @ Denver/Bandimere today:
temperature = 67.42 deg f
relative humidity = 36 %
uncorrected barometer* = 23.89 inHg
corrected barometer* = 29.57 inHg
wind speed = 4.13 mph
wind direction* = SW (232°)
more info: current metric | historical | forecast | help
dew point = 39 deg f
saturation pressure = 0.677 inHg
vapor pressure = 0.244 inHg
grains = 44.9
air density (w/o water vapor) = 79%
air density (w water vapor) = 78%
density altitude = 8294.47 ft

112 MPH @ 3600 pounds = 389 HP, 1320/112=11.78

I took Mikes comment about the takeaways from dyno testing at 23.5” baro vs 30” baro as meaning....... what works best at 23.5”.......may not be what works best, or be the best direction to go at 30”.

I'm not sure about the stock cast iron Q-jet intake manifold, but the factory cast iron square-bore intake manifold as used on the 390 hp 427 works very well.

That q jet intake works well to 5000 rpm and even better with plenum mods. Porting the heads, if you get in the 300s plus in flow that baby cam I think will get you in the mid 400s hp range I'd think. So maybe 11s in the quarter?

Exactly.
At 23", a small exhaust port may actually be helpful, because of the lack of air mass moving thru the engine.
At 30", a small exhaust port may be a restriction, and hurt the power.
