I would like to hear more about your car. The times you posted are impressive also. Although my parts aren't junk by any means, there are things that might be holding it back. I have to run mufflers albeit through a full length 3" system. My static compression is only 10.3. Brodix sent me heads with 70 plus cc chambers and I can't bring myself to pull the engine and mill everything. Pump gas is cheap, but this isn't much of a daily driver anymore.1980RS wrote: ↑Mon Jan 10, 2022 3:54 pmMy 406 with Vortec 062's ran in the high tens and that engine had a mild flat tappet hyd cam and stock rockers with little cheapy headers so I can see where Mark could get one to run that quick with a big stick in the engine with "stock" heads.rfoll wrote: ↑Sun Jan 09, 2022 8:00 pmI'm trying to understand how this is possible. I have a 3500 lb, (with me in it), 78 X body. The engine is a 415 solid roller with a Holley 300-25, 800 dp, Track 1 heads, and 5100 converter. My best pass is 10.88 @ 122, 1.5 60'. It is much easier to believe 11.6 except for the 123 mph you posted..
So much to do, so little time...

Re: Vortec CT350 crate in a street car.
What kind of car? Weight, transmission, gear, tire diameter etc. Are you running open exhaust? Quick details about the engine combo. I have mildly massaged Vortec heads on all of my street cars. My 71 C20 has a 400 with those heads. Although impressive for what it is, regular Vortecs are really small for 400 cubes. Actually, I think my Brodix heads are too small for my 415 and the rpm I'm turning.
So much to do, so little time...

Your paying attention! I like your math!
3200 pounds, Metric 200 trans, 2,75 first gear, 4.88 rear gear in a 9 inch, and that wasn't my choice either. Converter is a Munsinger. Theres more in it, just give my 17 year old son some time, "we moved our shop to Texas" he's got Vortec 350 cores lined up like a train LOL.
Racing a NA NHRA stocker should be mandatory before any posting.
