MARK, this El Camino build? My customer keeps RAVVING about the 427 you did with the STOCK GM 427/390HP cam and lifters that was almost 500Hp. You could do something like that too could you not in a 496 style BB?

The car currently has 2.73 gears. I gave some thought to the 700 r4 and a 3.73 or 4.10, but I have too many projects that need serious attention.

Love those year Caprice/Impalas, does this car roll through the traps in second gear?

Any more details?

Things change, the picture was almost 10 years ago. The engine at the time was a 400 with Vortec heads. Over 100 mph in second gear. I always wanted to find enough road to see what the top speed would have been, but the reality of a 2+ ton brick makes me think I would be lucky to see much over 130.

I think you'd be surprised. My Monte with the 383 had been run to 4300rpm 3.73 rear .67 OD 28 inch tires TC locked. Would have been approx. 143 mph.

I’m not saying it’s going down…but I’ve got a little more in the tank this year if the weather holds out 😂

My son rode along with me on this trip too.

Enjoy!
