any one have a timing belt alignment diagram,and torque spec sheet for all the engine fasteners? thanks

Your machine shop should be an AERA member and will have the specs available to them.

It looks like all of the bolts need to be replaced including the flywheel.

They recommend replacing almost every bolt but many of them I’ve never necessary. I own one of these engines in my wife’s Jetta, it has 498k miles on it currently. There are a couple tools needed to do timing belt. There is a crank lock but if you remove glow plug and ascertain you’re at tdc you’re ok. The pin that locks cam gear is substituted with a 5.5mm (iirc) dia drill bit. I’ll have to measure my locking pin when I get to shop. What all are you doing to it?

complete overhaul,so original cam timing alignment was not documented, thanks

If yo are doing this yourself a Chilton or Haynes manual should be considered mandatory. The Factory Service Manual is available on Ebay as well.
