define composite as either thin shell carbon fiber or as the type of material used for aftermarket (and Oe) Chevy LSX stuff.

Also "makes?" means you are looking for a manufacturer of a custom one? For that I can say right off the bat you are most likely going to have to go to England for.
Larry Widmer of Endyn reported he could not keep the "AIR" CF manufactured ones in production due to defense contracts for CF paying 5 times plus what civvy contracts could

We are working on a BBC version for this year.

The sbc composite should be ready to go in a couple of weeks. We are finalizing pricing, gaskets, fasteners, etc.

FWIW, I wasn't just throwing in a post as I did to be difficult. I surmised that the poster was carrying on with this plan mentioned in a previous thread (yeah, I am between jobs, and manage to keep track of who's who on here, and what their projects are, though lately it's getting busier and busier!)

What I imagined he sought: http://hem.bredband.net/frenet/6/index.htm

Here's a thread on an English forum from a guy who's actually more comfortable with carbon fiber than he is with welding... pics are bottom of page 1 and top of page 2:

FWIW, alternates to metal have been tried on high end drag stuff, and found undesireable...

What is the reason for going composite and modular?

Did you consider lost foam? I think the tooling cost would be about the same, the accuracy similar, the sealing problems non existent.
