A friend gave me a very old NEW set of 327 pistons. The piston manufacturer is TRW.
The piston number is 3020F. Can anyone tell me what the compression height is for this particular
piston? I have been unable to find any info. Most pistons I see are for jobber applications for use in
blocks that have been decked. They have a shorter distance than an OEM piston. Thanks in advance.

Re: piston compression height question
Take a caliper and measure top of pin bore to top of piston and add .4635

Re: piston compression height question
My 1986 TRW catalog states that a L3020F piston is a cast replaced for a Forged L2165F piston which has a 1.671” compression height.
From what I have seen over the years the stated compression height could be plus or minus .005” from what the catalog states!

Re: piston compression height question
As wisely said measure your piston with dial caliper top of pin bore to piston top. Then add ½ the pin bore diameter.. This is piston compression height.
It is usually just the cast rebuilder pistons that have a modified pin height.
