aluminum bbc brodix block vs the dart big m aluminum blk

Post by badbug3 »

Im wanting to know the reason more bbc brodix blocks are seen being used in several high horsepower boosted videos and never an aluminum big m dart block. Is the reason the brodix blocks are a couple thousand dollars cheaper or is the brodix block much stronger than the dart aluminum block. Anyone know the boosted limits of each or if there are lower hp limits to the dart?

Probably price. I can't speak to the big blocks, but I went with a Brodix aluminum small block over the Dart because of price.

Interesting topic.

When I was talking to my machinist about a Donovan or Brodix, 9.8, 4.5, steel caps, BBC he suggested the Dart.

I didn't realize the big price difference.

I currently run the brodix block. My machinist sees these and the dart as well as the donovan on a regular basis. He recommended the donovan above all the others except for billet blocks. Brodix before Dart for fit and finish, and he's had issues with Dart blocks....definitely not a fan of them...

Couple of questions.

Dose Donovan offer a option for a standard BBC oil pan rail? (chassis constriction)

The reason I am considering a Donovan is they offer a half filled block. In a drag only application would it be worth it for the extra sleeve support. This will be NA with a 4.5 bore.

Brodix also offers a half fill block. Also consider their HIP process for additional strength.
