None of the local shops wanted to attempt fixing it and I figured they probably aren't worth what I would have to spend to get them repaired anyway. They ran decent for what they were for a long while. I ran them about 8-10 years in total on a drag car. When I went to roller cams is when the trouble started.
most #292 Turbo Heads i've seen that were cracked across the Intake and Exhaust Seats
never leaked Water , or showed no signs of leaking water. ( other times , yes they leaked a very tiny bit , but still ran fast )
I pressure checked them and couldn't get the crack to leak , but thats a cold temp test ,
but like i said above , during full load Drastrip Runs , no evidence of leaking .
One of Cunningham's #292's had 2 Cylinder with cracks there , never leaked or affected ET Slip times .
These were 2.080/1.600 valves ... i trimmed a couple of exhaust valves to 1.580 to 1.590 on a couple of Cylinders that guide spacing was too close
John had 3 #292 Turbo Headed Engines .. (2) 296cid and (1)292cid SBC

Radiator Cap's pressure plays a part in this too .

Moroso Ceramic Seal usually fixed some cracks i've seen .

What rockers were on those heads? I had picked up a set of vintage BRC shaft rockers for mine. New old stock...brand new never on a motor from 1982...still had the deteriorating instructions in the box. I ran them for 2 years with a solid roller and it finally snapped one of the die cast rocker bodies off. For $150 bucks what the heck...I got 2 seasons out of them and I thought they were super cool. Super cool...just not super strong. Now I got T&D's.

First liar loses.
Sometime in the early 2000s I had a guy blowing and striking about all his abilities and so on.
The only thing not in his wheelhouse was secret agent. Most was BS and I knew it.
To get him out the door I told him pffft, that's nothing.
I told him I had been doing cnc work since the 70s. I laid the Cuttin N Carvin line on him.
He nodded slightly and then you could see the wait, what? look start happening.
I let him chew on that a while since he couldn't call me out on it after all his walter mitty stories.
I walked away. Don't know if he ever got it.
He left.
