thru my ET Slip HP Analyst Software i'm working on
and i came up basically that Mark's Engine would indeed make 650 HP as claimed !

Re: ET Slip HP Analysis of VortecPro 650 HP 496cid BBC
Maybe he is sandbagging hoping the farm truck won't find out his true potential
Re: ET Slip HP Analysis of VortecPro 650 HP 496cid BBC
Mark's stuff is usually spot on and with the barro that low I am sure if he was here were I race the car would be in very low 10's @128mph. Either way I sure would like my car to get in to the 1.40 60ft range.
Re: ET Slip HP Analysis of VortecPro 650 HP 496cid BBC
I think its important to mention my setup for the 496 combination was horrible, 4.56 gear, wrong trans gear stack, baro in the 27s, horrible humidity, I knew when I saw the 1.42 60 I was in trouble, I should have never ran that car at that track, but my move to Horse Shoe Bay Tx will put a end to horrible midwest conditions. Stay tuned................

Mark , was the HP falling off Top-End the result of the Hydraulic Roller Cam + Dual-Plane + Cam Spec Durations a little on small sidePost by vortecpro » Mon Sep 27, 2021 9:15 pm

for RPM Range "after" Peak HP RPM point ???
i saw in one of your Videos you had drawn a graph of HP Curve on black or green board ,
i can't remember if it was the Curve for this 496cid 650 HP engine ??
in that Video , you talked about a different Rear Gear Ratio too .
Re: ET Slip HP Analysis of VortecPro 650 HP 496cid BBC
Heres my take: The curve was from the 496 drag test. Right from the launch I blew right past peak TQ and HP, I couldn't pull 2nd gear fast enough, I was @ 7000 RPM instantly, my 2.75 first gear coupled with a 4.56 rear gear was a horrible mis judgement on my part, I think with a 2.50s first gear and a 4.10 would have been much better. Actually I had the car setup for Denver were it ran 10.72 with the 496 in the middle of summer 23.80 baro. Although the 496 peaked @ 6200 on the dyno best pull making no more than 456 measured HP, tested in the summer @ 6388 feet, 23.6s baro I believe, power carry was non existentant surely due to the intake heads and cam. I ran my 9.3 comp 228 @ .050 hyd roller 467 peanut port @ 3720 as well at the same track 3000 DA 27.80 baro? This engine made 584 HP corrected @ 5800 RPM and 570 HP @ 6400 RPM and was run 7000 RPM through the lights. May be you can run this through your program if you don't mind I'd be curious. The time slip. Pictures from my drag tests, along my weight boxes which brings me to 3720 pounds running weight.

Let me know if you move to HSB. I lived in that area for about 8 years, and know quite a few folks.vortecpro wrote: ↑Mon Sep 27, 2021 10:15 pm I think its important to mention my setup for the 496 combination was horrible, 4.56 gear, wrong trans gear stack, baro in the 27s, horrible humidity, I knew when I saw the 1.42 60 I was in trouble, I should have never ran that car at that track, but my move to Horse Shoe Bay Tx will put a end to horrible midwest conditions. They have an airport up on the hill, and sometimes do 1/2 mile racing. Also used to have Top Fuel Boats come every year to the Lake. But I heard they are not doing that anymore...

I do not see those passes as a fail. I see 5460 DA. That could have eaten several tenths. And at least your honest by showing it, What ever became of the truck project? 327 or ?
