Apparently these heads have been out for quite a while but I haven't seen a lot of talk about them. They look like a good head for a street driven 355 I'm planning to put together. Has anyone used them and is there anything to watch out for?

For me unless I need an aluminum head I would run a set of mild ported Vortec heads for the money. They look like nice heads but for 2K I bet there are others cheaper that flow the same as those.

I missed the “sold each”. That explains a lot. I thought they were another variation of their e-street line which are sold as a pair.

I messed with 2 sets of the 5089 heads and there were some ridiculous tight valve guides.
So tight in fact one guys engine squealed and seized up. I was there to witness it.
There were 3 very tight guides and one so tight I had to pull with all my mite and twist the valve back and forth to get it out.
None of the valves would go back into that guide..No the tip was not dinked up either.
I looked at the flow numbers of that cnc head.
Not great enough difference over the 5089 to justify purchasing it.
Here are some numbers.
So as advertised by Edelbrock. 1020 flow bench. I had these flowed 4-1-2019 today on the SF600. The first set of numbers are from Edelbrock.
The other 2 sets are the SF600 bench.
The last set of numbers were from the same set of 5089 heads and I blended everything and raised the exhaust port some.
NO PIPE on exhaust.
Intake ......Exhaust. SF600 Stock In' .......Ex' ........ Blended ported IN'.........EX

Yes, those exh flow numbers would say tested with a pipe to me so triming them back by 4 to 5% starting at like .350” would get you into the ball park for numbers seen with out a pipe.

Still valve guide issues...
Years ago I was looking at various vortec heads (Etec 170/200) and settled on the AFR version for a bolt on- even then complaints about grease used as lube prevented oil from getting in and tight guides. I was willing to pay up front and not have to tune them up.

My 062 Vortec heads flowed about the same as the Eddy heads, Eddy's exhaust flow was a little bit better but my heads used 1.94 and 1.5 valve size and cost a lot less.

I feel like I’m stating the obvious....... they’re within about $100 of a set of AFR195’s.
For me that would be a pretty easy decision to make.
