Spark Plug Hole Defect

Post by BOOT »

I was gonna take some pics but just grabbed a couple screenshots from my latest vid.

This Dart SHP head has some defects by the plug chamfer and I just wonder how some on here felt about it. This is a gasket washer type spark plug, so if you remove/install the plug several times. I think after the first time that the washer will fit the defect but not after possibly.

I'll prob try to exchange the head since it also has a defect on the deck.

Pics are two different cylinders

I thought those heads used a gasketed plug ? If so I dont see a problem. I would be more concerned with the depth of the hole. I have had several sets of Dart heads in the past where the plug hole was not machined deep enough. The plug ended up in the hole in the combustion chamber side almost 1/4"

It is a gasketed plug but has a slight chamfer to start the plug threads easier I assume.

Use a chamfer bit and clean them up. 45 degree will clean them up then use the 14mm to clean them out.

I'm gonna try and exchange the head since it also needs redecked. Just wanted other opinions if the replacements have the same problem.

I would like you to flow my 235 RHS heads and mess with and of coarse pay you. You might be surprised what they are capable of. Ran 9.50 on the 377 as is.

Yah why spend money to have the head re-decked when they will exchange it for free.
