late model hemi 5.7 cylinder head question

Post by bentvalves »

can I take .020" off the deck without using a thicker headgasket?

if not, could anybody recommend a gasket manufacturer that does?

edit: I am seeing that cometic do.

It sounds like your looking to mill the head for the sake of cleaning it up , and not for a compression increase, right?
Is this just one head off the motor that needs to ge milled?

I wouldn't think this increased preload on the lifters would hurt anything

Yes, I would agree!
Even so called limited travel Hydro lifters made for hi rpm / racing have a .050" plunger travel range !

If you are just doing a clean up cut why would you need to cut .020" off ??? Those heads generally clean up with less than a .005" cut and to be honest with you if they are warped more than that they should be replaced.
