One of our favorite obsolete V8s.
Are you going to need OEM parts or custom speed parts?
You're probably aware there are different oil pans and pickups for the rear drive and for the Eldorado.

With all the good aluminum engines available today, why use an old heavy iron engine?

For some people its just as exciting to put an oddball combo together, vs being a typical swap.SchmidtMotorWorks wrote: ↑Sun Nov 21, 2021 5:20 pm With all the good aluminum engines available today, why use an old heavy iron engine?
Stuff like this will turn my head at a car show.. when I see an LS swap I usually walk right past it.

It's been a long time but the guy that owns Suncoast Conversions Jimmy Johnson used to come up to my friends shop with some of his creations he had Jags with the 500 Caddy engines but are you sure you can replace the sunken intake with a high rise and still have hood clearance? They really looked sharp with the twin snorkel Cad air filter assembly. The installations he did looked like they came from the factory. Cimmaron tilt wheels and all.

Hello
That is the exact kit I am going to use.The only change is I am using a 4l80e instead of the turbo 400.Does anyone have any experience with the bulldog heads?

Btw-I am a bit of an individualist but I also have extensive experience with the ls7 and I can tell you that building the ls7 isn’t cheap either.

Back a few years, nothing but problems with Bulldog. Maybe they're better now, but I'll never take the chance to find out.Fitzjames123 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 21, 2021 6:24 pm Hello

Have you already bought the 4L80E? If not, PM me, as I've got a TH400 Gear Vendors setup which came from behind a 500" Cad.Fitzjames123 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 21, 2021 6:24 pm The only change is I am using a 4l80e instead of the turbo 400.

Re: Cadillac 500
i played with the 500 caddy for a few years in a street / strip G-body. I spent untold thousands of dollars and had nothing but grief. I confess mostly self inflicted. However when i switched to big block chevy i had much less grief and much more fun. I still think the cad can be a fun engine however i am a firm believer that being "different" is only cool if it also works well. I would only play with a caddy now if it was in near stock form. Maybe just an intake and headers.
