Re: 2.56 Gear, Stock Converter, 4100 Pounds, NA 11s?
OK i see your thinking. I went through a talk like this with Nick Sacvo when he had the '65 Impala in fast streetcar stuff. My shop had been running NHRA Pro Stock and Nick was also running that style short stroke motor as he too was heavy and traction limited on a small tire.
10.70 Streetcar will be my slowest daily driver. My fast pump gas stuff will be mid to low 7's, but that on Nitrous. That will be a 8.50 cert'ed '69 Nova with a pump gas 632 on a 275 tire. Since it's only certified to go 8.550's that is the goal NA. My other driver is a '67 Nova with a all aluminum 515. That to is pump gas and dual plane intake. Trying to get that in the 8's, but even a 9.20 should be ok.

67 Nova, i think you saw DP as dual plane. I meant double pumper. The dual plane is a split plenum Performer RPM intake and is a good match for this engine.
Draggin- i bought this fuel line from Right Stuff. They are great to deal with. I believe it is a 1970 L78 Chevelle pump to carb setup.
I shot another video of the car idling and it still won’t upload to Speed Talk.

OK, the fuel line is on my short list.
Videos should be hosted on YouTube, and link shared to SpeedTalk.

the only problem i mostly see with Dragy is : 0-30MPH , 0-60MPH, and 60Ft ET'sDragginwagon406 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 03, 2022 10:58 am A video for you guys.

after those distances , Dragy is very close to reality !
i have my Software setup as 12.0" inches or 1 Foot of Rollout distance
and i think Dragy might be setup the same ???
Dragy's MPH and GForce : 103.0 MPH with 0.300 GForce
ETA calculates same thing

hehe, we were testing the 430 cu in Whippled triple disc CTSV the first time with the drag radials, OnStar called and wanted to know if we needed ambulance assistance due to the rear end collision we were just in The antenna was disconnected shortly thereafter

Evidently, the YouTube world appreciates sleepers, 2.56 gears, stock torque converters, and 225/70-15 Cooper Cobras.

Back in the day I used to run a Private label name version of the Cooper Cobra tire P225/70-15. They used to bite pretty good especially about ½ worn down. Pressure was critical. Said "Challenger" on the sidewall but same same. The sidewall tirewear/heat rating is a indicator.
Used to run just one traction bar on the passenger side only. Low buck 454, nitrous Car was a piggy also.

Successful first outing with the new VortecPro engine. Drove 190 miles to the track, noting about 13 mpg (what can I say, it's fun to accelerate). This was the first race using a tachometer in the Monte.
Highway speed with the 2.56 gears
Arrived at the track
It comes out of the bottom very well. Traction off the line was definitely a little more complicated than with my 496.
The engine power is falling off around 1175-1200', which is keeping the mph down. My best guess is it's either hitting the rev limiter in the MSD Digital 6-Plus, running out of fuel or the power drops off quickly at 6300 rpm.
Being it was a FAST Race, car wore the Cooper Cobras for this race.
Almost had a great race with this 571 CI beast.
Anyhow, have a few items to square up with the car. Hopefully collect a 11.4 or 11.5 by the end of the season.

I think what you have done with your Monte is very clever.Dragginwagon406 wrote: ↑Thu May 19, 2022 9:11 pm Successful first outing with the new VortecPro engine. A genuine mid/low 11 second streeter is a fast car on the street.
Best of both worlds,75 mph highway cruising, 120 mph on the track.
I watch some of that FAST series on the google machine, very impressive.

To be clear, my car is not FAST-legal; I have incorrect carb, intake, ignition, fuel pump, headers and electric fans. From the outside, the car appears quite original.
The best part is giving friends and family a ride for the first time, they never suspect a car with such a smooth idle could be like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. And it can run low-12s on a completely unprepped street, on plain street tires, with a full tank, trunk, and with a passenger.

Re: 2.56 Gear, Stock Converter, 4100 Pounds, NA 11s?
My math shows 35 observed HP gain with no tuning, then theres the 3000 feet DA difference, so basically you picked up a minimum of 50 observed HP based on 1/8 mile MPH. I really feel the 228 @ .050 cam is the cork on the 510 inch engine, I hope its fuel or ignition that is holding you up, at the very least a taller tire will deliver more MPH. Remember the 4.375 stroke was your idea......... I really wonder what the 238 cam would do at this point, a lot more HP, but drivability would suffer as compared to now. So far what we have learned: carrying power past peak is so very important...............
Calculations show your 11.84 in zero DA conditions with the 496, mean the 510 would run 11.44 @ 123 in zero DA conditions, hopefully tuning can bring the MPH up.

Racing a NA NHRA stocker should be mandatory before any posting.
