2.56 Gear, Stock Converter, 4100 Pounds, NA 11s?
Take a 1970 Monte Carlo on street radial tires, bone stock survivor with a 2.56 gear, Turbo 350 with the factory stock GM TQ converter, add a 496 with 9.8 compression with a 228 @ .050 hyd roller and GM 049 heads-will it run 11s?

Yup it will. Mark you need some of those 2.56's and run some killer speeds with that peanut port engine.

A picture of whats going on.........I've always opted for Turbo 350/400 trans with a 2 series gear over an OD trans. The nice thing about this combo is perfect street ability, you could pull a travel trailer to the track if you wanted too.

If it can, it won't 60-ft for sh!t and will have to have a big-a$$ top-end charge to make up for it. I'm trying to think in terms of dialing back my own ET & MPH from old builds and the first one that comes to mind is 11.7 at 118 w/ a 1.70 60... slug the 60-ft and put another 3 MPH on there and maybe there's an 11.9-something hiding in it.
But the as-described combo w/ standard radial tires is going to be hurting for enough traction to even do that. Oh, no altitude-corrected ETs, either...

I can only speak for myself, I've never that I can remember altitude corrected ETs, its 66 degrees where I live and 276 DA right now. The owner of the Monte lives in Ohio. I think it 60 foots 1.88 on the street radials, runs through in 2nd gear.

The owners 496 made 580 HP and 600 TQ, ran 11.84 @ 119.46.

Does the 2.56 gear have limited slip? Seems like it must be to run that quick.
