Double intake gaskets
Has anyone successfully glued (or other means of permanent sealing) two intake gaskets together? I’m putting together my top end and I’m getting the best alignment with .180” of intake gasket. I have a 1266 and a 1206 on ea side for mock up.

Contact Cometic.
They make the custom sized Ford intake gaskets for me in a 3/16" thick material.
Pretty sure they can do GM.

"Quality" is like buying oats. You can pay a fair price for it and get some good quality oats,
or you can get it a hell of a lot cheaper, when it's already been through the horse.

Can also buy sheet material various thicknesses and make your own sometimes
Re: Double intake gaskets
If I was gonna glue two gaskets I'd prob try 3M weatherstrip adhesive. At least that's what I've read might work.

Re: Double intake gaskets
I have used spray upholstery glue. Spray both mating surfaces, stack together and add weight to compress. I think a standard Mr Gasket type is a better candidate for gluing.
A lot of thick Mr Gasket intake gaskets seem to be made this way.

Re: Double intake gaskets
Mr gaskets work well for stacking though I never had a reason to glue them together.
I would think the yellow death glue would be the worst thing to use.
Something thinner in viscosity would still allow some flexibility without adding to the overall thickness.
The wise move following a "full glue" would be to use a heavy weight to compress them together while the glue sets up.
I do not like the yellow glue
It tends to make my experience blue

Under the topic of whatever works I had one combo that I had to use 2 gaskets on one side and one on the other to get things to line up.
Time had run out to figure out the why of it. Engine was fine so I never bothered to "fix it".

Re: Double intake gaskets
Dave Koehler I had to do the one intake gasket on one side and two on the other side thing once. 69 Z28 DZ 302 had to replace 1 head, the correct dated 186 head customer found had been flat milled a bunch on the deck and intake surface. Used a .051 head gasket on that side, .016 on the stock head side, causing the intake mismatch. You do what you have to do !

Yes , Holden V8, edelbrock heads, 10lb boost, true daily driven used as work car. 2 gaskets glued together with copper spray. Has done well over 70,000 km no issues. These gaskets are metal lined though and are quite sturdy.

Re: Double intake gaskets
Have had to use double gaskets many times, not only intakes, water pumps, coolant manifolds, etc. Where surfaces had to be machined due to pitting or warping and component alignment was a problem, right stuff silicone works well, also on Elring gaskets, can be very thin, we used Gorilla Glue with a light spritz of water to aid set-up ( it needs moisture) and works very well. Use sparingly.
