Re: Dyno tuned 434 SBC 11:1 AFR 245 Solid Roller
These just arrived. They are Quick Time Pro 31x18.50 and will be replacing the M/T ET Street Bias 32x17.50 currently on the car...

This will help me dial-in the suspension next time out...ChopperScott wrote: ↑Mon Aug 22, 2022 5:45 pm It was losing traction after the hit, knocking the car out of the groove. I need to get a camera on the suspension.

You had that car on scales? That will show you the problem 95 percent of time.Imo you would be better off with rear shocks vertical or straight up instead tilted inward.

Also, somewhere I saw a vid. That thing jumps hard to the left.Dangerously hard.Does it do burnouts crooked also?Just looking with no scale sheets etc I would crank left rear spring pad up couple threads and put some weight into that side if no ability of scale use.But think about that before you stand on brakes hard at other end.

I did that also, nice that with the newer gopro's you can turn the camera on with your smart phone in the car.ChopperScott wrote: ↑Tue Sep 06, 2022 9:09 amThis will help me dial-in the suspension next time out...ChopperScott wrote: ↑Mon Aug 22, 2022 5:45 pm It was losing traction after the hit, knocking the car out of the groove. Re: Dyno tuned 434 SBC 11:1 AFR 245 Solid Roller
I haven't had it on 4-corner scales. That would help. For a better visual of the shock mounts, this is the Chassisworks back-half in the car...Lloyd klem wrote: ↑Tue Sep 06, 2022 11:14 pm You had that car on scales? That will show you the problem 95 percent of time.Imo you would be better off with rear shocks vertical or straight up instead tilted inward.
It pushes left when I let off of the line locks. I've been easy braking on the top end as the car tends to rock back and forth.Lloyd klem wrote: ↑Tue Sep 06, 2022 11:19 pm Also, somewhere I saw a vid. That thing jumps hard to the left.Dangerously hard.Does it do burnouts crooked also?Just looking with no scale sheets etc I would crank left rear spring pad up couple threads and put some weight into that side if no ability of scale use.But think about that before you stand on brakes hard at other end.

Re: Dyno tuned 434 SBC 11:1 AFR 245 Solid Roller
Hiya Scott, nice car.
I think you would benefit if you could find a circle track guy that you could take the car to or he would rent you the scales(all 4 corners, it matters). It's not so bad. Scale car as-is then start cranking 1/4 turns, 1/2 turns, full turns etc etc in each corner and write a lot of notes. Try different springs and the scales may not help note shock changes but it is worth noting with what you have for data purposes. Sometimes a pre-load on an upper OR lower bar helps and will show on the static scale.
What you will find on the scales will be astronomic and enjoyable, it can also be overwhelming. Once you go to the track with papers and papers of actual data and then start playing with it, you will see what change does what. Then you are "fine tuning" your chassis. There are no "magic" numbers. Don't make huge changes and get lost. Luv your car

Re: Dyno tuned 434 SBC 11:1 AFR 245 Solid Roller
I'm going to make some inquiries about scaling with the other local racers at Island Dragway this weekend. I'm sure someone has a lead on a shop that can accommodate my car. I look forward to the experience. I realize there are no magic numbers and every car is unique. I'll be running it on Sunday with the camera out back. Hopefully it'll help get into the ball park. Thank you, Carl.

for an 11/1 motor it's producing great torque per cube.

A small detail that tends to be overlooked. At 11:1, comparable builds can push upwards of 700hp, but at the expense of torque.David Vizard wrote: ↑Sat Sep 10, 2022 1:02 pm for an 11/1 motor it's producing great torque per cube.

Re: Dyno tuned 434 SBC 11:1 AFR 245 Solid Roller
Since HP is a result of TQ x RPM, isn't a case of building the same TQ/CID but moving the torque peak further up the RPM range?ChopperScott wrote: ↑Sun Sep 11, 2022 4:37 pmA small detail that tends to be overlooked. The "trick" then is to achieve that same TQ/CID number.

Re: Dyno tuned 434 SBC 11:1 AFR 245 Solid Roller
I should have clarified... "at the expense of peak torque". To reach 700hp at 11:1, it seems to be a matter of rotating the power curves via the cam profile.

Got rained out at Island on Sunday...again. At least I've got the tires mounted and ready to roll at Lebanon Valley for the Dover Nostalgia Drags in a few weeks.

Scott where is your location?
I’ve a friend with a chassis shop that could help I’m sure.
