Finally got the Camaro back together. The small block is ready for test and tune, followed by competition with North East Timing Organization (NETO) next weekend at Atco Dragway.

Yes, a few drivetrain changes behind the 434.
•Custom built converter
•From 2.48/1.48 TH400 to 2.75/1.57 TH400
•From 5.29 rear to 4.57
My goal is to run 10.00 in the 1/4.

I think you will achieve that ET and some once sorted.
I think 9.8s at 136 are on order :D

I agree on the 136 number. It should do better than 9.8s by at least .1 if the convertor is right. Hard to judge the rear tire size but Quarter Pro likes 14x32 on this combo. The little torque hole between 5200-6000 may make things a bit finicky. 5800 stall should take care of that. Might want to use a Grid and an airshifter since the 1-2 comes up real quick.

I have M/T 32x17.5 ET Street Bias tires on the car. Technically they've got a 32.2 diameter and 14.2 tread width. The converter should stall close to 5500. I was thinking that "torque hole" might provide a little "launch management". The nostalgia bracket class I run has restrictions on shifting devices. I still use an MSD 6AL with a 3-step module. Final gear ratio is slightly higher in 1st and 2nd with the new combo. Shift timing may not be much quicker than before. I'll soon find out.

Change of plan. Atco was rained out and cancelled yesterday. Last minute scramble brought us to Lebanon Valley Dragway for test and tune. The Camaro ran a best of 1.43 / 6.50@105 / 10.27@129. DA was 1396.

This run was 1.43 / 6.49@104 / 10.30@128. I was a little slow on reaction time. Trying to shake the rust off after a few years. I still need to dial in the suspension for launch. There is some wheel slip out of the hole...

Well it's a starting point. I personally know sometimes after a long layoff [a year and a half for me because of covid and a move from La. to Ky.] just getting down the track can be a major hurdle to get over. Yes, work on the suspension first. got to get what HP you have hooked before trying to tune for more power as long as timing and jetting are safe. Good luck keep updating as you progress. Dan

Dan makes some good points,
The mph does not do engine justice but it is a new combination, very rarely can you send it first shot out of the box.
Did you see rpm at the stripe.
Gearing and new converter .
Some controlled tyre slip is wanted in my opinion as to get wheel speed up faster, but it's a balancing act.
I know from experience that when your car runs a second quicker than what you are used to everything is different.
Thanks for sharing
I hope that was not you on the limiter in the water box :o

I hate to admit it, but yes. Like you said, everything is different. I wasn't use to it revving so quick, compared to the last combo. Takes some getting used to.

Rpm at stripe? My data acquisition is a little slow these days. A little more time behind the wheel to get back on point.

I'm heading down to Atco for competition tomorrow with NETO at the Yesteryear Drags. Track prep should be much better. I'll lower air pressure in the rear tires a few psi and hope for the best.
