I have only run over 135mph with my 358 on a 200 shot, things happen fast and hang on, it's a fun ride but ends to quick.steve cowan wrote: ↑Sun May 22, 2022 4:40 pm I think once a street type car starts running over 135 mph google theory goes out the window.
Same for a engine that makes good hp/ cube alot of things we think we know are dead wrong.
Scott has basically added 200 hp or so to the car and it a new ball game in my opinion, unless you have decades of experience at that level it can be daunting and talking to people that actually know is a small group usually.
From my experience track tuning is tough, there are so many variables and a lot of hurry up and wait scenarios lol
Think about how many hrs we have waited in staging lanes of years / decades
I can see how guys do engine dyno then hub dyno then race track in that order.

Sure like to see what it would do with a 1050 Dominator on it. Good luck and keep us posted on what it runs.

Chopper Scott, always keep in mind that with roller lifters...the more you idle the engine the more likely you are to have premature wear in the axle area of the lifter . Mark H.
Re: Dyno tuned 434 SBC 11:1 AFR 245 Solid Roller
What did Joe Sherman always say about that, "I like to idle my engines at 1400rpm to keep from wearing out roller lifters and cams" Joe knew his stuff.swampbuggy wrote: ↑Thu Jun 30, 2022 9:50 pm Chopper Scott, always keep in mind that with roller lifters...the more you idle the engine the more likely you are to have premature wear in the axle area of the lifter . Re: Dyno tuned 434 SBC 11:1 AFR 245 Solid Roller
That's not the case, if the roller lifters have pressure-fed oiling to the axle.swampbuggy wrote: ↑Thu Jun 30, 2022 9:50 pm Chopper Scott, always keep in mind that with roller lifters...the more you idle the engine the more likely you are to have premature wear in the axle area of the lifter . Any good roller lifter should.
Our roller lifters have 4 oil ports to the axle.

Re: Dyno tuned 434 SBC 11:1 AFR 245 Solid Roller
Thank you, gentlemen. I'm not an expert in premature wear of solid roller lifters, but I do prefer the idle to be higher. This was the first time idling warm after the carb swap. I only pulled it out of the garage moments before. As I was filming, I was thinking the idle was low. I was half expecting it to stall when I snapped the throttle.

Re: Dyno tuned 434 SBC 11:1 AFR 245 Solid Roller
I dropped my trailer/car off at Island Dragway on Saturday. I wanted to run, but unfortunately test and tune was cancelled due to weather. The Nostalgia Nationals were run at on Sunday. I went right into competition with NETO and ran a best of 1.37 60", 6.38 @ 107 in the 1/8, and 10.06 @ 133 in the 1/4. Density altitude was over 2500. Considering my goal is 10.00 @ 135, I think I'm moving in the right direction.

When people do the work it hopefully helps other people to get after it as well.
Nice job Scott

what's the weight of your Car with Driver as run ??
Re: Dyno tuned 434 SBC 11:1 AFR 245 Solid Roller
On an earlier post in this thread he stated 3030lbs on the scale. It would be interesting see your ET predictions and back-calculated engine numbers.maxracesoftware wrote: ↑Mon Jul 04, 2022 5:49 amChopperScott wrote: ↑Mon Jul 04, 2022 1:34 am IMG_6546.JPG

The 26mph back end gain is pretty good.
I've got the car .09 faster in the 60 and 6.16 at 660 using a 5200rpm stall and 6700rpm shift points with average traction conditions at 2500ft. The dyno sheet doesn't run that far so swagged the last dyno point.
With a dialed in launch and perfect shifting, it's a 9.84 car all day.
Good job Scott, you'll hit your goal before the season's out.
