Might consider trying a spacer/adapter that allows running 2 Four barrel carbs on a single Four bbl intake manifold.

My next project this year will be a 406 SBC with my Dart 215 pro 1 heads, actually have a new tunnel ram intake I will try .

Steve have you seen the Trick and Mansweto spacers?

No but I will have a look,I am a Chevy guy but I have great respect for tricky,he has that ford stuff worked out for sure.
I should have around 7 spacers, adapter plates in a few days,a friend is milling a 2 inch spacer for my 300-25.
Talking to a couple of guys at the track who run 383 - 434 sbc and they are saying a 2"- 3 " open spacers seem to work well with a correctly sized / ported intake manifold.

That would be a interesting comparo. Strip Dominator with 1x4 bbl carb and 2x4bbl carbs (adapter) VS a tunnel ram.

A little of the topic but I'd like to ask which manifolds would you put on that list?
Or more pointedly, would you exclude an RPM Air Gap from it?
I used a 1" open spacer on my 406 with an RPM air gap. It was worth at least a tenth, but after that I installed a 300-25 and never looked back.
So much to do, so little time...

So I have more spacers to look at now,all CNC and really nice pieces.
As mentioned in carb thread I ordered a QFT 4150 - 1050 carb, seems the general consensus is it will be to big for combination but I have to try for myself.
The QFT carb fits 4150 - 4500 carb flange/ manifold.
I want to blend in the 4500 adapter to suit 300-25 intake
Friend has 2" open spacer finished just have to hand finish and it will fit nice.
I have a 1" spacer I will blend to 300-25 then blend to the 1" and 2" super sucker spacers so then I will have a choice .

Spacers shine on the stationary dyno stand - you do not want slow fuel discharge and tall spacers in a drag launch scenario.
Paul does nice work.

Thanks for your comments Arthur,
Yes Paul does nice work I am very impressed.
I suspect you are saying potential shift recovery issues from to big a plenum and poor booster signal.
I might re- visit pipemax and check plenum volume requirements for my application as well.

rebelrouser wrote: Sat Feb 19, 2022 12:41 pm All good advice, my experience for what it is worth, is that every engine is a little different, and the only way to know is to just try them. I have not seen a lot of evidence that this one or that one works better. Most dual planes like at least a 2 inch open spacer, but single plane intakes it is just try and see what works. The main issue usually is what will fit under the hood of the vehicle the engine is going in.
couldn't have said it better myself

I chose to blend in the smaller 4500 adapter today.
This is a 2 piece spacer.

I can tell you this, on my 406 I ran last year with my Dart 215's the 2" tapered spacer did not add all that much. The 1" open spacer worked the best with the 1000 Mighty Demon. When I test that 406 again I will be using my Super Victor II and test spacers.

Bob,
I think the SV 2 saves a guy a lot of grinder work for sure.
The 1000 MD is very close to size to the 1050 i have,I read you don't really like QFT carbs hopefully I can get this one to work.
I plan on building a 406 cube SBC and run my 215 pro - 1 heads as they have some nice titanium valves etc.
I was reading back through your posts, what intake last year did you run ??

I’ve never seen a mighty demon “1000”........ but the “race demon” 1000 is physically the same size as the mighty demon 850, along with having the same calibration.
Somewhat handy with a die grinder.
