Melonized Distributor Gears Brand/Manufacturer

Post by 89BLK5OH »

What is everyone’s brand/manufacturer preference for Melonized steel distributor gears ? Quality and durability are major concerns.

I have access to a Crane and Morel gear.

Thanks

First of all ... "Melonized" is a trade name for a specific process. Other companies will simply call it something else.

"Melonized" is just a trade name for a specific salt-bath nitriding process.
We sell "Melonized" steel gears for SBC, and BBC engines, with either the .492" or ,500" bore size.
We have them made for us, in the U.S., by the same gear manufacturer that makes the 8620 steel gears we press onto our tool steel cores.
We sell the gears for $74.00 each.
