Believe it or not, there is such a thing as "coil tuning" for capacitive discharge ignitions having to do with getting inductance right for any specific application.
I personally have seen some coils work better than the what was considered supposedly the best available. "BEST" is a subjective term.

There was a nice old article that went into coils terms/details, basically said you gotta track test a few diff types to be sure. Also some brands use to say one coil was for upper RPMs and another coil they had for below a certain RPM range. I think some just prefer to sell you the most expensive coil they have.
