Back in the mid 80s & early 90s a rev kit was installed on every roller cam.
I'm not seeing it as much anymore.
Only on solid lift race cars.
The guy that used to own our speed equipment shop said he always ran one in case a pushrod broke, rocker arm backed off, etc.
According to him it kept the lifter in the bore, and prevented a lot of damage.
He also said that it lowered necessary valve spring pressure by a little, and made the valve lash gap more on the valves like it should be.
I've been away from cars for the past 25 years, and now it's mostly hydraulic.
Give me your opinions on a rev kit with hyd rollers ( retrofit).
If it won't damage anything, it's worth the $150 to me.
What's the new opinion on rev kits with hyd retrofit cams?

Pointless on a hyd roller.
The big benefit is that it keeps the wheel in contact with the lobe on the base circle which significantly reduces shock & wheel acceleration on the opening ramp.
But hyd is always in contact with the lobe anyway.

REV kits are awesome.
I machined a small relief in our solid roller REV kit to fit the girlie lifters. If I can remember correctly, it was an interference from the rivet that held the dogbone. it ran happily to 7.2k after that.
The average girlie lifter body might be taller than the average solid roller lifter so plan accordingly. they can coil bind too.
Its only metal, it can be removed.

Used a rev kit on Howard’s HRC91163 hyd rollers (Morels I believe) on a SBC to 7,200 RPM on the dyno with no sign of valve instability. Rev limiter
in the corvette is set at 7,400 also with no issues. It just made sense to me.

IMO waste of time and money, valve springs and lifter technology has come a long way.........so just spend the money on quality lifters and valve springs.

Thanks for all the info.
I guess, I'll just talk with the company that makes my cam.
Thanks again.
