Been running this coolant for years and I like it for no corrosion and low system pressure. I'm working on a tune for a 383/alum headed that's is a little marginal for regular fuel. Evans is supposed to be 10% less efficient at heat transfer than water/antifreeze.....is it worth changing back to the green stuff?

Years ago I tried water wetter in a 440 mopar that had the block filled. toward the end of the season my meziere water pump locked up, rubber seals had all swelled up, and there was a jelly like substance in the radiator, never used it since.

Never had any issues in the several SBCs that have passed through. Aluminum heads, iron heads, high performance, street and highway. The coolant looked as good as the day it was poured in.
Obviously, YMMV.

You are far better off with Evans Coolant than any of that other shit. While water is more effective at heat transfer all the other issues it has make it not worth it.

Plus Evans Coolant doesn’t need pressure to cool. That right there is a reason to not use anything else.

In fairness to water wetter and If I recall right it should not be used with straight up tap water due to the mineral content , and the same goes in general with cutting your own antifreeze.

thought Evans claim to fame was no steam pockets. I would think this would be ideal in your case.

I'd stick with it...

You raise an interesting point.
I've always tended to cut the anti-freeze with demineralized or deionized water.
That may account for our disimillar experiences.

Distilled water is best for mixing with antifreeze.
You won't get much purer water than that.

We get to -35C here, so I'll mix the Zerex G05 and distilled accordingly with a new cap.

-35C!
I drove to work a few times last winter in -42.

... -50C
You win.

I can't even say what the mix ratio would be to protect against that kind of temperature. At 50/50, the best I've seen on my tester is -35C.
