Hey guys,
Building a 363 SBF dart SHP Windsor
Just wondering if anyone’s used a SBF 302 based comp cam extreme energy Hydrulic roller core 35-427-8 and went for a 1.8 ratio instead of the 1.6 ratio.
What’s best hydraulic lifter to use ?
What’s the most spring pressure a Comp cam -8 cast hydraulic roller can handle or you’ve run successfully?
Looking @7200 rpm if possible
Stainless valves 11/32
Running 1.8 ratios as I have a new set of T&D S to suit heads
What issues have you’d come across

Re: Hydraulic Roller with Higher Rocker ratio
SADI core cams are usually meant for a street type engine but, are sometimes used in a pinch for racier engines when other cores are not available.9 Degree wrote: ↑Sun May 08, 2022 7:35 am Hey guys,

Using the correct distributor gear is paramount.
The Johnson, (Specialty Engine Components), hydraulic roller lifters are the best I have ever used.; though expensive.

Re: Hydraulic Roller with Higher Rocker ratio
First question... "Why?"
Next question... "Why SADI core?"
Last question... "Why not just buy the correct camshaft that works with that rocker ratio?"

"Quality" is like buying oats. You can pay a fair price for it and get some good quality oats,
or you can get it a hell of a lot cheaper, when it's already been through the horse.

Re: Hydraulic Roller with Higher Rocker ratio
Might be worth having a go and see what the outcome is.
Most ratio I’ve ever run on a Windsor combo was 1.7 . Cam was a custom Crow billet roller with 226/232@50 and ended up with .580 lift. 26925-16 comp springs and matching LS style hardware. Ran real nice.
I think the key to success with any hydro roller is trying to run the lightest weight valvetrain you can find . Every ounce helps!
