My son recently got out to the track with his Camaro for some testing which I found interesting, especially his engine combination. He currently is running a 355 with unported 906 Vortec heads, intake is a Edelbrock Super Victor with a 750 Holley. Camshaft is a hyd flat tappet with 435/460 lift and duration in the 250s @ .050, 1.5 ratio rocker. I believe the compression to be 9.5 to 9.7 dished piston. The headers are a step header with a merge collector. So my son just started racing and we had a 5400 RPM chip in the MSD until I feel comfortable raising the RPM limit. The Camaro weighs just under 3200 ready to race, 4.88 gear, 8 inch converter, foot brake, set up on a 9 inch slick causing a engine diaper installation, (it almost got street tires over that rule) out of control tech at these tracks. He made 3 runs with a 3200 foot DA, 29.28 baro, 100 grains of water, 98-92 degrees, 1/8 mile runs, heres the best run:
60 1.373
660. 7.48
MPH 87
We were happy with this seeing the car was on the rev limiter all the way down, my thoughts were the 350 Vortec headed engine is a simple strong runner which would make a great bracket race engine without spending a fortune. After my son gets use to the car he will install his 302 and see how that runs.

Re: Vortec Head 350 Track Testing
The Vortec heads are pretty good for sure, my best so far with a mild bowl and chamber work went,
1.48 60ft
6.86 1/8 mile'
96mph
On a 406. That's a great 60' time and I bet the car would be quicker with less gear as I found with my Vortec combo. Nice numbers for you guys.

What makes it quicker is pulling out the 5400 RPM chip LOL. I will post some videos tonight.

Re: Vortec Head 350 Track Testing
I figured there was more ET there based upon the 60ft time.vortecpro wrote: ↑Sun May 29, 2022 2:27 pm1980RS wrote: ↑Sun May 29, 2022 1:18 pm The Vortec heads are pretty good for sure, my best so far with a mild bowl and chamber work went,
