So which heads will get my 358 in the high 10's

Just got the car running in the last few minutes. The car is way more responsive with the Vic. Jr. on it and starts better over the Air Gap. So my guess is if all works out the car should be better off the trailer. I sure like that FST carburetor, whack the throttle, instant response .

You’ll have to pin gauge that FST one day to unlock its secrets of success.

Ya that kind of sucks of them. The card I have lists the bleed numbers but there are none on the bleeds, that one is kind of stupid for sure.

What size exhaust did you take off? What mufflers as well?6.50camaro wrote: ↑Fri Jul 08, 2022 12:44 pmI can attest to that fact, when I went from a 3500 stall 10" converter to a 8" 5300 stall my street/strip 383 was .3 quicker in the 1/8th mile and dropping the full exhaust for 12" collector extensions dropped it another .15 to .2 . went from a mid to high 7.40's car to a high 6.90's car. Yup, rain is headed that way twards the track right now, but since we really need the rain where I live I am not complaining about that.

A better title would be:
"what driveline behind my 350 will get me in the 10s"
Still waiting for you to get on me with that peanut port

Racing a NA NHRA stocker should be mandatory before any posting.
Re: So which heads will get my 358 in the high 10's
This has a lot of significance with respect to where I'm going next.
I had posted earlier (a few years back) about my perceived HP claim based on weight, MPH and ET.
I happily assumed I was reasonably well north of the 400 CHP line. That would have been a 3700 lb race weight car that ran a corrected 109 MPH.
It was explained to me by a Stock class racer (Racing a NA NHRA stocker should be mandatory before any posting ), that the power required to do that was considerably less than 400. Probably closer to 360.
Then it occured to me that my 400+ HP claim wasn't too far off the mark but that was peak HP. It's average HP as seen at the tires that counts. With my poorly set up chassis and drivetrain, I was rarely at that peak as I was always accelerating to get there. My average was way down. Down to 360 apparently.
If, with a properly dialed in convertor and sufficient traction, that 109 result could undoubtedly be faster. The ET would follow.
This time around, I may just lean on the strip side of performance and factor out the cross country driving.
Before:
15/06/05
2210’, 59F/15C, 29.91” Hg/101.29 kPa, 51% rh
DA: 2855
12.92 @ 104.87, 8.21 @ 83.77, 1.85 60’
12.479 @ 108.653 MPH corrected
12.93 @ 105.46, 8.23 @ 83.15, 1.85 60’
12.489 @ 109.264 MPH
As you can see, I'll say the HP was there, but the rest of the car was lacking.
The OP's mileage may vary.

Yep,
Same here on other side of the world.
Was a nostalgia event today so there would of been some track prep.
Spent all last weekend setting a baseline caltrac, shock setting, checking wheel alignment etc.
Oh well wait another 2 weeks I guess
