Effects of lowering c. r. With thicker head gaskets?

Post by gregsdart »

I have a set of fully ported 440 -1 heads that have been cut³quite a bit, and one failed and blew a head gasket. I had the failed head welded up and resurfaced. Compression was 15.3/1, methanol, 550 cubes made 926 hp. Fourteen dyno pulls, then failure on drag strip pass number seven. I want to drop compression to 14/1 and probably run a couple degrees less timing to make the whole deal live a long life.
My question is, what effect will a . 027 below deck
And . 060 thick or thicker gasket do to power? Any other problems?
