Distributor is locked out at 40. Pulling 20 degrees out up to 1000 rpm to crank it up.
Pulling 4 degrees out (for 36 degrees of timing) up to 6000 rpm. We add 1.5 degrees from 6000 to 8000, so we have 37.5 degrees of timing at 8000. Advance is linear from 6000-8000 rpm. I'll never need more than 7000 rpm out of the engine, so at 7000 rpm timing is 36.75 degrees.
I have quite a few other timing "curves" we're gonna try next time out also.
Does this sound okay to y'all? Any suggestions? Am I doing it completely wrong?

I’ve just started experimenting with mine.
So far it seems to like a lot of advance at mid rpm’s, then pull a few degrees at peak VE amd ramp them back in afterwards.

you may not agree, but performance trends engine program will generate an advance curve for your engine. And it is pretty close if you put good numbers into the program. I have used it several times to set up timing maps in injected N/A and injected boosted engines. I would agree you may have too much advance in the mid rpm range.

Settled on 40 up to 4000rpm
Ramps down to 36 at 5000
Ramps back to 40 at 7000

Years ago (2019) when I ran my peanut port BBC I run 44° lock in total timing as it has like no compression. I had the nitrous MSD retard setup so I just pulled the wires for plate off so I could use the retard function my arming the system then hitting the button at any RPM to retard the timing. I made 2 passes one with the car setup locked and then hit the button as I got into high gear retarding it 6° no change, car ran the same. changed the pill in the box to 8° ran the car made no difference in ET or MPH all 3 runs were almost the same. Maybe on a high RPM with a huge cam and lot of compression it might help but retarding the timing in my case made 0 difference.
