You are correct. Thought Id do one thing at a time. Originally I thought my problem was limited to just one cylinder as thats the one that was “very” wet and started misfiring. I assumed other plugs were rich but in retrospect they may be getting oil on them as well

I started noticing oil in the up high in the intake. Figured Id reseal all 8 intake rocker studs.

#1 is now one of my drier looking plugs.

With oil up high in the intake, which I did not notice before, i was wondering what you guys thought best for a direction.

Oh, you just resealed number 1, yer, reseal the rest for sure based on that.

Oil up in the intake may simply be being blown around from the suspected rocker stud leaks.

Have we covered auto trans ?

If so vacuum hose to trans ? Still that shouldn't affect Cyl's 1 4 6 and 7.

Manifold swap.

Trans is Muncie 4 speed

I pulled the Z28 winters intake this afternoon

As I had mentioned there was obviously a little movement when I installed it. Manifold and gasket were slid down on drivers side. Not sure if this is where oil was just pooling once in the runner or if this is the cause?

Thoughts on pics please…

Thanks again

Try to carefully take the gasket off the head and on the head side look for evidence of even compression of the gasket around the ports.

Very little to no indentation on the head side of gasket.

On the manifold side i can see the port shape indentation. Measures about .010”

The drivers side gasket that was sitting lower, the oil soaked side, actually has a tighter squeeze on it at the bottom vs the top. Just a few thou, but it was tighter.

The oil looks like it was seeping up the gasket on the drivers side

Sometimes you can see a slight tell tale outline.

Manifold side even? Hard to see in the pics as they compress/stretch when opening for a larger view.

Looks like you found the major contributor either way.

By the looks of that bottom pictures I can see oil on the gasket at the lower sealing part of the port. Sometimes I have had to use gasgasinch to seal some intakes in the past. Had a Vortec intake that would not seal. I replaced the gaskets with the fel-pro ones and that sealer and the engine never used oil again.

On a different device now i can zoom into the pics properly. Second pic the horizontal section between the ports (lets say #3 & #5) has crushed well but as it transitions and goes down the lower vertical left hand side of #3 it seems to lose that crush at the oily area. I assume you have seen the same.

Might be worth getting an angle measurement china rail to intake face of engine and manifold and compare.

As long as that's not oil that's accumulated in the gap after coming from somewhere else.

Yup. Thought of that for sure.

Well process of elimination I suppose. Ill check gaps as best as I can on intake. Reseal with any tips you guys might have. Last time I used an anaerobic loctite sealer around water ports, The Right Stuff on the china walls. The gasket was otherwise dry

If the intake doesnt fix, then Ill dig into valve seals and guides.

Any recommendations for sealing.

Does anyone use anything around the ports?

You can't go wrong with good old Permatex #2 ... everyone should have a tube in their shop ... it's Not RTV/silicone and it's been in use as long I can remember ... has sooo many uses.

I bolted up my intake to the Drivers side head without gaskets. Measured the gap at the china wall from side to side. Seemed about .006” tighter on passenger side.

Used a digital angle finder and china wall to head angle is 35 degree. Intake angle is 35 degrees.

I have a question about a post I read on another site. I have included an attachment of it. Is this even possible?
