Re: Eagle connecting rod burnt cap
I would not count on the rods tempering still being as what’s needed, and I mean both halves of the rod seeing as the big end is showing discoloration also from what I can see.

Most of us don't mind this discoloration in the small end when the pin isn't floating.
I would not sell an engine with a cap like that, but I might run one for my self.. might.

Re: Eagle connecting rod burnt cap
I am sort of tempted to agree with CA but if you don't feel comfortable with it Eagle has always been very good at matching weights in single rods. If you torque it together and it is still round and on size I doubt that you hurt it Compare it to one of the other rods in the same set.

These rods are only on about a 500 hp are so engine,if that makes a difference.
Re: Eagle connecting rod burnt cap
When I was poor I ran them like that with no issues .700ish HP If it was still round it wasn't as hot as it looks. The bearing was but the rod itself wasn't. At least that is what I think.
Re: Eagle connecting rod burnt cap
If it is within spec, why is the discolouring on the cap uneven, biased more to the left? Why did it overheat?
Re: Eagle connecting rod burnt cap
I ran one like that also. I bought a motor that tore the crank up I assume due to an oiling issue. Two of the rods were bluish like that. I just wire brushed the color off and checked them for size, they were ok so I ran them again. I had not issues, they are still in the engine today.
