What's the bore and stroke ?
Does the cam ride on a "Bucket" follower, or does it use a rocker/finger follower ? If so, what ratio?

Mike:
Im after a camshaft recommendation for a NA 6cyl aussie Barra 243ci DOHC. Setup has 11.5:1 compression, 50mm ITB's, 6>1 pipes, head has had bowl and short turn work ( around 270cfm ). Currently the engine has a pair of 250@1mm duration ( duration is at valve, engine has 2:1 rocker ratio ). The engine is done by 68-7000rpm.

That doesn't answer any of my questions. I have no idea what a Barra is.

Aussie Ford six is a Barra. I believe rocker ratio is 2.04:1

Hey Mike, the Barra is the "LS" of Australia, but it's an inline 6cyl. Huge potential, found in 500k mile NA taxis up to boosted high HP 'special edition' applications. There are millions of them down there in all levels of trim. Think of a Ford 2JZ or RB. It would be in interesting market to get into, but I am not sure you would be able to carve out enough to make it worth your time. Probably some good consulting R&D work for you though.

To pull to 8,000 rpm, you will need 262-266 @ 1mm on the intake.

Would that be at the valve or cam? 2.05:1 rocker ratio.

Ended up with 254@50, .530" lift. The tightest I could get the intake to was 118icl and put the exhaust at 114. I forgot to mention that this current engine only has 8.8:1 compression as it was setup for turbo. The engine revs well to 8300 1st gear and 2nd around 7700 before it feels lazy (3speed). Car is faster from 5000rpm up by a fair bit.

Now my question is would I get more out of flycutting the current pistons to allow a earlier intake opening and closer lsa or just upping the compression to 11:1-12:1 ? Obviously both would be better but theres over a $2500 difference between flycutting the current and new pistons for maybe not that much extra gain. Cheers
