Re: Intake Manifold Porting Show ‘n Tell
I was hoping to see some ported BBC stuff. I'm finding myself in a conundrum where I think an argument can be made for a smaller-runner single-plane with the stroke of a 496 but a Performer RPM Air Gap is probably the wiser choice. I also keep hearing that throttle-body EFI (Holley Terminator X Stealth) doesn't play well on dual-planes but I haven't squared that one off in my mind yet.
I'm getting sick of looking at Performer RPM Air Gaps, lol

Have ran 2927 on 427 through 496 many times.Old dart worked fine back in day with a little work.Didnt have many choices when they came out.So we learned how to make them work.My personal go too would be sniper jr

A 496 won't be short of torque.. might as well get some rpm and make some HP.RevTheory wrote: ↑Sun Dec 04, 2022 4:02 pm I was hoping to see some ported BBC stuff. The 2927 is a great manifold. They work well even on 540-565" engines
Can't go wrong with the Sniper Jr.
I like to mill the carb pad down .500"-.625" and port match them about 3 inches back for your basic 750-825hp pump gas 496 deal. It adds hood clearance and still makes good power to 76-7700.
I'll look and see if I have any pics of either.

Only used 1 on a 545" A460 . Made peak torque at 6500
If you are talking about Cobra Jet, the Speedmaster one isn't too bad. Do a dominator conversion to it. And open up the long runners a bunch.

So, how much is TO rough in texturing?
Some of the pics, show, what looks like a much rougher finish than a burr finish.
Also, are there any A/B tests on how much improvement there is in both HP and AFR, with the rougher finish?
Since we are now working with the boundary, do you increase the CSA? If so, by what %?

Looks good, but I'd square the flange off, and blend that all in. Opens your options for carb spacers too.ChopperScott wrote: ↑Tue Dec 06, 2022 11:55 pm AFR 4811, still in progress…

Just curious about this type of intake design, what does it change in how the engine hp and torque are made and will it do anything for engine rpm over the conventional method of porting a intake manifold.Just curious that’s all?

Thank you. IMO, there are plenty of options for other intakes if you prefer an open plenum without the clover leaf.Bigchief632 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 07, 2022 11:33 amLooks good, but I'd square the flange off, and blend that all in. Opens your options for carb spacers too.

What's everyone's opinion of a SBC Brodix HV-1 or HV-1000 now? I picked one up last year for $dirt$ and you can't pass on something like that.

AFR has two available matching spacers for this manifold. An open clover leaf, or a tapered 4-hole...Bigchief632 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 07, 2022 11:33 am ...I'd square the flange off, and blend that all in. Opens your options for carb spacers too.

Decent manifold for what it is. I've used a few. 383-421" combos. Carry power well and make decent torque for the size

Thanks, sounds like a winner on my 406 next year.mt-engines wrote: ↑Wed Dec 07, 2022 4:45 pmDecent manifold for what it is. I've used a few. 383-421" combos. Carry power well and make decent torque for the size
