Thanks. From how you explained it I can see exactly what you are saying. The entire port was slowed down, but the high velocity that was created, was in the wrong spot.

I'm sure you've seen my posts about this one. Any pics of the ports? What gasket are you using?

That look's like Visard. I have used this many times, and works reasonably well. Lately, I have been painting on Prussian blue and bolting down the intake. I also learned it from something I seen on the web.

Nice work Chad. I don't care what anyone else says, your burr finish just plain works for me. After doing that I have never seen such clean plenums, runners and port runners in all my years of running engines.

Are you seeing anything worthy-of-note regarding "transient" throttle response or shift recovery with the burr finish? Anything noticeable just normal street-driving?

Nope, just a cleaner are in the intake and ports since I have started doing that to my stuff, oh and better ET and MPH as the car ran better when I leaned it down form prior testing.

Nope, just a cleaner are in the intake and ports since I have started doing that to my stuff, oh and better ET and MPH as the car ran better when I leaned it down form prior testing.

I don't know what burr Chad is using, but if I tried finishing like that, I'd probably ruin the manifold. On that AFR, I used a ball head carbide burr on the plenum floor into the runners, 60 grit in the runners, with a cross and blend buff at the ports and the leading edge of the divider walls.

The coarse burr finish activates the boundary layer so that less fuel clings to the walls.
Off throttle te walls dry and finer finishes need more accelerator enrichment,

That's pretty much what it's band aiding if it helps. I've had intakes with the carb sitting right on the manifold, pull the carb, and you can see fuel stain from the fuel wash on the walls and around the turn from the plenum entry into the runners. Put a 2 inch spacer on, engine gains a bunch of power, and the stains disappear. What happened? So many variables to just say this is the end all be all mod.

What happens if the spacer causes issues on the shift?

Some say band aide. Some say tuning aide.

I have stories of guys going faster and they would let you call it anything one chooses!
