I've modified the back of the front plate for the jesel belt drive to clear other blocks, can you do that? That would be a better option.

Also groove the front main cap for oil drainback if the jesel cover is too close otherwise you WILL have a front seal leak. I'll see if I can find a picture.

I just looked in my phone and laptop. I don't have a picture. I want to say .500" end mill .100" deep vertical. I think I have a sb2 block at the shop already modified but I won't be back for a couple days. I will post a pic with measurements when I can.
edit, I might have used a 1" wide bit, shoot, darned memory fade from too many induced coma's/surgeries. Surely others have done this main cap mod.

Took me an hour just to get the front Jesel to fit.

Good job Chad, not just jesel's but also alum timing covers on the Dart blocks/large main cap offer no drainback, hence the groove needed in the cap.
p.s. check the corners of the cap for pan clearance too.

Chad no,
Vertical up and down on the front face of the main cap about .100" deep. You might have lost all the integrity of that cap.

.100 deep isn't enough. I converted the block to a front and rear drain.
Re: SBC SHP Block w/Jesel Belt drive
So go .150 or .200 deep and an inch wide, oh well, too late now.

The cut looks much bigger than it is. I used a 1/2 at a 45º angle.
Wanna see the valley? I have got so much flack on it, I'm scared to post it. lol

Sure, that pic could be deceiving my eyes. Next time you have it off, shoot another pic.SpeierRacingHeads wrote: ↑Wed Dec 07, 2022 4:52 pmThe cut looks much bigger than it is. I used a 1/2 at a 45º angle.
