Interesting take on Exhaust system X pipe.
Something you can fabricate yourself.

Who makes that?

I would like to see "real" 3rd party independent dyno tests compared to a simple H pipe before I spend any money on it. Dan

Borla makes these.
I believe there is a extra design element of function beyond just the 2 cross over pipes at work here.
It is easier to spot in the Youtube videos.
See if you can spot it.

Looks like extra weight, install cost, harder to fit because it takes up more room and also I'm sure it ain't cheap.

Gimmicky marketing

One of my old performance books shows were they used four mufflers in parallel instead of two, 2 per side instead of a single muffler. Mufflers sucked back then and some still do now.

Put two bad mufflers on and then add a H or X pipe and it'll allow the engine pulses to see two mufflers instead of one. An efficient way to help bad mufflers and some think it sounds cooler. Or just install hi-flow straight thru perforated tube design mufflers. My opinion of course and maybe some don't like loud hi-flow mufflers and would prefer a H or X pipe. After all many buy a cam for the sound.

Props to their marketing department!

If it's like other mass produced y-pipe connections I've seen, then it's a mess inside where it counts.

im sure there's something to it, but unless you're sticking it on a lifted truck, room is gonna be an issue.

Simple application of destructive interference.
2% power gain is just removing the muffler, not because the design is "super cool" as Borla guy states.
I find the Coyote exhaust note painful. I don't know how they came up with such an angry noise out of a 180* crank when a Ferrari makes such a beautiful sound.
Maybe Ford should use the Chrysler NVH guys to blend intake and exhaust noise into a powerful sound. Hell, my RAM hemi sounded awesome at 6500rpm and was even better when you could time passing someone on the highway with a gear shift in the 8spd..

Coyote is not 180° but i agree, those things sound ragged.

Well apparantly this fits the newer Mustangs.
It replaces the oem dual resonators on the 'stang.
Lots of reactionary opinions but have you ID'd the other
exhaust design element at play on this.
I believe its there. I could be wrong.
If its not, it could be added.
Then , it could be patented.

The Mustang engine has a 90° crankshaft.

My bad, I assumed a Coyote was 180. The weird thing is when you drive one, it doesn't sound crappy. I rented a 5.0 Mustang two years ago, just the 460hp one, and it didn't sound terrible.

Looks half as good as a conventional x pipe

Is this what they're using to make them sound so terrible? I swear every 5.0 in town has no mufflers and screeches like like a dying rabbit.

I think there is a better way to acheive the "idea" thats less disruptive. Ive had a plan in my head for a few years before they came out with this and just have not had the opportunity to make one to test yet.
