dyno seals

Post by Don.m »

Hi guys, contemplating building dyno absorber. Does anyone know the part number for the proper water seals used on other popular brands? Looking to build a 13" 2500hp. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Don.

I only have knowledge of my old dyno I pieced together. I have an older Land and Sea water brake dyno. The seals used in it are SKF Seal 16743, which is a wheel seal for an older Ford car and SKF 15845 which is a transmission out put shaft seal. I don't think Land and Sea builds dyno's anymore, but when I asked, they wanted like $300.00 for a seal kit, I just crossed the numbers off the seals and got them on E-bay. about $25.00 each. It is an 800HP unit.

Thanks for the reply. I have seen the l&s seals they are just that, a spring loaded lip seal. I wanted to use a spring loaded carbon face seal, but think generic water pump seals wouldn't last with the rpm. I am not an expert on this just trying to do it once. Thanks Don.
