Facts based databank.

Engine combo, VE % and how it was determined, Engine Dyno ? Chassis Dyno? Sim ?
Ignorance leads to confidence more often than knowledge does.
Nah, I'm not leaving myself out of the ignorant brigade....at times.

Would you do those heads again? Or pick something else- interesting heads but a few things to sort and is it worth it....

Can you expand of your few things to sort please.are you saying those heads have some factory limitations that need to be resolved to make good hp.
TIA.

Yep, I’ll stick with these heads. They are off the engine at the moment and will be fine to go again with the next build. Just have to do some piston detail this time to get more lift at tdc on intake. Valve train is fine. Are they worth it? Never done an A/B test with a traditional 23* head to qualify an answer.

Thought I’d get out of bed this morning to see a whole bunch of posters populate this thread with some great combos. It’s a thread where the myriad of other threads asking advice on building a stout engine comes together to show results. Come on guys, post up them combos an VE!

Well, unlike the ford version- they had a gen2 and just ended....valve train and guide issues that TF didn't really spell out. I would have thought that line of heads would have gone further than they did.

Most of the G1 problem was the end user/installer not following install instructions and recommendations. There was word on a bad batch of K-Line springs that were breaking as well. The issues were fixed and ease of installation with the g2 that has 16* intake and 18* exhaust and flowed an as cast 250 odd cfm through the intake. Not too bad in the day but it was all too late and the reputation for twisted wedge sbc heads was cooked.

Anyway, enough of that. This thread of Toms is about posting up combos and VE of said combo. I’ve thrown my hat in the ring, how about some more?

Sim is ok guys. Don’t be shy.

My inline 6, 202 cubic inches made 118% VE at peak torque- this was based off Engine Analyser Pro but the flywheel dyno backed up the numbers, almost spot on.

The combo is simple,

202 block, half grout filled
Longer than std rods for better rod ratio
JZED downport head
custon small skirt ROSS pistons with 1mm rings
triple 48 webers
ATI balancer
252/258@50 flat tapper cam...
1 5/8 try y primaries
Fumbling around in the shed...

here's a YouTube Link on VE% correlation -to- "real-world Engine Dyno results"

Also, there are many included PipeMax Simulation examples that have great VE% correlation to Dyno and DragStrip results

Seen that the other day. Good stuff on both accounts, Chad and Pipemax. I’ll be consulting Pipemax closer on my next built.

But for now 2 examples so far? Where are all the build and VE numbers? Surely not everyone is concerned about publishing intellectual property?
