Bowl hogs

Post by ProPower engines »

Hey guys
Where are you all getting common bowl hogs these days??
Been looking to increase my tooling selection and silver seal used to sell a decent bowl hog selection and you could get custom tools as wsell.
Seems since covid hit they are not available any longer or just hard to get with long back order waits.
Looking for some 82 degree hogs for finish work on some large valve Hemi heads.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again
Dave

I don’t know that Goodson has them anymore either!

PS, you asked this same question back in 2015!

So you still have not found them yet?

what is wrong with taking a little time to decide. I took that long between my 1st wife and 2nd wife. 3rd took longer than either of other two

Last time I needed one I got it from Regis, don't see them on their site any more. Ebay has some 70 degree cutters from India

I use multi angle bowl cutter blades with a 90* top angle

I set the choke off of the 90 using a valve seat micrometer. This is with ball head tool holders

If you have a ball head this should be a good Serdi 82* single blade part number 000874

I also set the 90* off the insert counterbore mic, at a touch under choke

As regards 'bowl hogs' etc, or the lack of availability of, I'd maybe source a diamond lap, or use the one on your bar, and 'create' what you need from the natural wastage of cutter bits

Waiting for no-existent product from 'advertised stock' is just becoming tedious ...... JMO

That or any ball type tool looks like it just can’t wait to jam up on you when cutting and rip the power tool right out of your hands.
