Need new slicks
We need to buy new slicks for this season, we are running Phoenix 31X13X15 in a 3300lb 67 Nova with a small block chevy and a Lenco 4 speed. Any suggestions on manufacturer, compound, size, stiff or weak sidewall etc.?
Suspension setup is critical to the traction equation. Your slicks may be spinning because of improper suspension tuning. What are your 60' times? Does car drive straight with good handling throughout the run? Car seems a little heavy. What suspension and shock package do you have? How do you launch car, (transbrake, electronic aids, etc.), and what RPM?
Slicks
Back-halfed ladderbar, 4-link? What tire pressure have you been running in the previous tires? I run a chassis car (4-link) that weighs 2200 pounds. I have been running the Goodyear 32X14.5 stiff side wall (D1672 D5 Hard compound) and 60 foot 1.15. We run a tire pressure between 5 and 6 psig.
The super stock car we used to run was a heavy weight like yours and we ran the 31X14 D1823 tire (D4 medium compound) and it did well both in performance and service time. Tire pressure was between 6 & 7 psig.
Mickey Thompson slicks - try to run an M9 compound that is an aggressive compound for heavy cars.
Hope this helps.
