Had the truck in for dyno tune for a few hours, 89 K1500 4x4 with hydroboost, Dexron puked out of the PS reservoir. I know the brakes were probably well used but steering likely not- using a 1997 oem truck PS cooler tube/fin style that is smallish- is this a symptom of generally running too hot and need a better cooler, ? Does have a irritating minor whine when hot that no amount of new pumps seem to cure.

When we were racing a dirt late model, if I used off the shelf p/s fluid it would get hot half way thru the race and quit working. When to a racing fluid at around 12$ a quart and never had problems. The racing fluid was noticeably thicker.I was given 2 gallons of 68 hydraulic fluid and started using it as p/s fluid.Could not tell any difference between it and the racing fluid.

Thanks for the response- would this live long in a street all season application?

Hydraulic fluid runs for years in machinery.
