Metric street stock - steering box

Post by circletrack15 »

Thanks for the info on the rear axles, I have some coming! My next guestion is what stock steering box do I need to use? I have been told the 1985 Camero Z28,or the 1985 Trans Am. They are both 12:1 ratio, but what I have found out is that fom 1982 thru 1988 most of this are all 12:1, Why those two cars for that year? What do YOU suggest I use. Thanks circletrack15

I have always used the stock box that came with the frame. Different boxes seem to have different steering arms on them. Change the steering arm and you change bump steer and other geometry.

There might be a box that could work better, but I never spent a moment experimenting in that area. As far as the ratio of the box, I think the driver will adapt to any stock ratio (on asphalt, dirt might be a different deal).
