I have never yet seen my favorite. My ideal would involve a 55-57 chevy with modern style skirts and ground effects. Minus the rice.

IMO, it would look killer. Claimed copyright, circa late 2009, like it matters.

Just killer looking effects on something you would totally not expect to see them on, yet well executed...

Yeah but the electronics were so primitive that it would freak out every now and then when you drove under high power lines

The vacuum tubes in the controller would vibrate, and give "microphonics", or change their gain wrt vibration. Railroad tracks were a killer.
Is the defect in what I see, or what I'm seeing with ?

Remember "reverberators" - a device that I believe created a slight delay between front and rear car speaker audio. Very popular in my part of the world circa 1962.

Yes, they were a cheap spring reverb unit. Borrowed technology from guitar amplifiers.

:D I like pretty much all the cars from '49 through '57...... And a few '58s as well. But especially the early '50s coupes with their short top and long rear deck proportions.

Here are a couple of my personal favourite daily drivers from years past......

Image

Built in 1972...... The '55 ran a 'built' 327 and T-10 4-speed backed by a 9" Ford rear initially and later, a 450 HP LS-6 454 GM long block with a '67 427 'Vette Holley tri-power induction system and a '62 Ford big block T-85 overdrive tranny fitted with a '57 Pontiac T-85 gearcase, input shaft and front collar.

Image

Built in 1978...... The '56 ran a 'built' 400 Pontiac with 428 heads, a '66 389 tri-power intake and '70 Dodge 6-Pak Holley carbs backed by a Muncie 4-speed and '69 SS 396 Camaro 12-bolt rear.

Happy Motoring,

Harry

1957 Aston Martin DB4

James Bond drove an Aston Martin, how cool is that?

1956 Mercedes "Gullwing" 300SL

Gullwing doors, slant six, direct fuel injection...

1955 Jensen 541

Big British sedan with a fiberglass body. Cries out for a big block Chrysler under the hood. Which Jensen eventually provided...

1953 Studebaker Starlite Coupe (a Studillac conversion, preferably)

Raymond Leowy's ultimate design. The 1953 was perfect. Every year, Studebaker plastered trash all over its clean lines - tailfins, chrome, gewgaws. There were a couple of companies doing semi-production conversions, replacing the sickly Studebaker V8 with big-inch Cadillac power.

1952 Allard J2X

Small British sports car, Cadillac V8, and a boxful of carburetors... what's not to like?

1952 Nash-Healey

Small British sports car, big Nash Ambassador six...

Hm. British cars and engine swaps seem to be overrepresented here. Ah, well.

My older brother fixed a '53, or is it a '54 (anyway, it "looks" like a '53)Studebaker for his son. Tons of work, but a nice result. 'It has a 71 model 340 and 727. Great looking bodes to say the least.

:D Guilty as charged...... I swapped a 4.3 litre Chevy V-6 into an early '70s Triumph Spitfire sitting on a late '60s GT6 chassis back in the late '80s for my son to drive.

I am currently working on an intake to mount a set of 42 DCNF carbs original to a '74 Aston Martin onto a Chevy V8 I'm building to replace the 6-banger in my '57 Chevy.

Best regards,

Harry

Ditto!

They are so beautiful, imho!!

That said, I had a '51 4-dr Commander V-8 Stude. The bullet-nose car with rear suicide doors.

As well as a '52, '55, and '57 Chevy's.

Gene had a 250hp/'58 Imp 3-speed stick and Jerry had a '58 Bisque 2-dr post with trips and also a 3-speed stick.

I swear Jerry's car had a 350hp/348 in it because it ran like the wind!
