I know that this is an old thread but i just read it, and wanted to add this fact to the thread. Eddie Hill became the first Top Fuel driver in history to cover 1320 feet below 5.000 seconds. This run was made in 1988 at the IHRA Texas Nationals with a 4.99 second run. I could not find out when the first sub 4.50 second run was made, but i do know Tony Schumacher set a record of 4.42 sec.'s in 2006. 4.99 minus 4.42 = 0.57 sec.'s
2006 minus 1988= 18 years Mark H.

Larry Dixon was the first to run in the 4.40s. He ran 4.486 in Houston in April of 1999.

That should have been 4.4197Stan Weiss wrote: ↑Sat Sep 17, 2011 1:02 am Does anyone remember the 1/4 mile fuel records?
They were flying at Charlotte tonight.
Funny Car 3.995 @ 316.23
Top Fuel 3.748 @ 324.83
If neither vehicle accelerated from 1000' to 1320' (Constant velocity)
Funny Car 4.6849
Top Fuel 4.4557
Stan
In 2017 Clay Millican went 3.631 @ 330.39 If the vehicle did not accelerate from 1000' to 1320' (Constant velocity) it would have run 4.2914 in the 1/4 mile.
