In modern times, I believe so, Paul.
In ancient times, the Persian king Cyrus the Great freed the Jews from captivity, allowed them to return to their homeland and paid for a great deal of the construction of the 2nd Temple in Jerusalem to replace the 1st Temple (Solomon's Temple) which had been destroyed by the Babylonian king Nebuchadnezzar in 586 B.C.E. (or B.C. if you prefer).
Construction was suspended when the Cuthites who lived in Samaria lied to King Cyrus, saying that the Jews were ungrateful and plotting against him.
Later, the Persian king Darius the Great ordered construction of the 2nd Temple resumed and paid for much of it out of his own fortune as reparations to make right the wrongs of his predecessors.
Best regards,
Harry

Yep...... In the year 586 BCE (or BC if you prefer)...... 586 years priour to the birth of Rabbi Jesus, Paul. And the 2nd Temple was destroyed by the Romans in the year 70 CE (or AD if you prefer).
The Romans and the great majority of other empires in ancient times were not as forgiving as were the the kings Cyrus I and Darius I of Persia, however. They held to the time honoured custom of razing conquered kingdoms who stood up to them and rebelled...... To the ground.
And that is what happened at Jerusalem in the year 70. All manner of tablets and historical inscriptions that could be found were destroyed. In short, they attempted to destroy not only the civilizations of those whom they conquered, but any written history of their existence as well.
And as is still the custom...... Might makes right and the victors write the history books...... Always presenting themselves in the best light possible and their conquered foes in the worst. Of course, truth lies somewhere between those extremes and finding that balance is the task of historians.
Best regards,
Harry

The link below is an interview with a relative on my Mother's side of the family. The connection is slow so be very patient but the video is worthwhile. He describes what happened to inspire many of the students from his school to enlist (Pearl Harbor). Obviously from thenceforth he was career military.
I am sure that many other list members have interviews with distant family members on the hosting site. It might be interesting to look into that?
