Good book

Live not by Lies - Rod Dreher

Take the time to listen and learn what older men and women have to say who lived and suffered under communism.

Brian, that book is now on my list.
I have nearly finished "We The Living" by Ayn Rand, it is a story about life in the USSR post revolution, fictional characters but pretty close to how life was. I have made a mistake with this author, i have read 'Atlas shrugged' first then gone to 'We the living', should have started there and read the books in order for the foundation of 'Atlas Shrugged' to be apparent.

I was investigating possible/disputed quotes of Stalin which led me to look at Lenin. I was (not so) surprised to learn that there is disagreement within academia about presumably very specific events and meetings in Lenin's life.

Cheery topic.

The impetus that formed in that era was not just interpretation of their ideology, who was more left of left or who appealed to/utilized the proletariat more effectively, but revenge.

Cheery topic Kev? I see the tongue in your cheek, but to see how it was carried out on such a vast, complete scale and its terror is engrossing.

Just think what it would be like waking up to the dawn of a new era of prosperity every day!

What do you call the checks your government sent countries, for their citizens, who are your enemies?

Asking for a comrade.

I call is being sold out. I'm not happy that the last two presidents sent Billions of our tax money to foreign countries when the money could be used here. It's treasonous in my opinion.
What do you call it?

Didn't take long for the book review to turn political.

Thanks for that Kevin, some good ones to be read in there, nearly time to load up the Kindle again. The one 'The Alchemist' reminds me of a book about Isaac Newton.

I have nearly finished 'The Fountainhead',, finished 'Atlas Shrugged' and 'We the living',, you would have to be a big fan of the author to get into 'Anthem' but made it through unscathed!

Cheers.

Just finished the last of the Ayn Rand books [the novel series] now reading 'Game of Known's' by Karl Kruszelnicki, bit of light reading for a change.

Dave you have some beauties there, all worthy of a read/reread,,,'The Art of War' by Sun Tzu!, now you have jogged a memory there, that's one of those five pages forward four pages back to digest types of books. There are quotes in that book that have resonated with me since i read it years ago,,,damn,,another to reread. I would put this book at the same level of 'We all fall down' by Robin Clarke, a book about chemical and biological warfare, another five forward four back book. Not to be judged by the page count [low] but by the content.

I don't watch a lot of TV, we had Netflix and it ran out without me even knowing! there were some pretty good series on there though.

I was going to add a photo of a pin that was done for the '1984 Ponde' rock concert that featured a pair of binoculars and 1984 in lettering across it, but it looks like photo's can not be attached in this section of the forum.

Cheers.

Idiocracy deserves several viewings to catch the many jibes.

That was a film the studio really did not want to release.
