Youtube madness

Post by mag2555 »

So I am watching a video about porting on YouTube and every 4 minutes a pop up add about Abortion rights cuts in.

Really youtube, doing this in videos that I am 99.9% sure only guys watch, great advertising dept you got there youtube!

Youtube sure is flat out wasting there advertisers money!

I think a pop up about Gunk hand cleaner or the like would be far more well received.

I say that all the time. Youtube's advertising is lazy and half ass, and I am AMAZED anyone pays to advertise on there. Like you say, you're watching a video about pick whatever manly subject, shooting guns, mma fighting, martial arts, fishing, etc etc. Then an eye makeup add comes on. Pretty sure not many guys watching that use mascara, but, then again, in this day and age, who the F knows. You'd think in this day and age, they would be able to match the add to the video type. I suppose they can, but, you probably have to pay extra to get your add matched to the proper viewer. The other thing they do, is cut the add short. I say it all the time, wtf, I'd be mad if I paid to advertise on there.

Ditto on the ad blockers. Works fine on my desktops and laptops. Haven't found the right one for my Android phone. Any suggestions?

Check for add ons. There are some that fix the YT ads. There is also one to bring back the dislike counter.

Brave Browser is by far the fastest and the best one i've used so far !

i don't get any Ads at YouTube
i've also disabled "Video AutoPlay" in Brave Browser

click the little Red Lion icon upper right for quick setting on "Ad and Trackers" , mine is just set on "Standard"
and i never see Ads on any YouTube videos ,
i might have set other settings for this too , can't remember which ones

Brave Browser has a bunch more Settings in their main Settings window
you can stop any kind of Ads at Websites , not just YouTube videos

re: the abortion popup placement during diy porting youtube ---
maybe youtube chose the placement specifically because it generates outrage & discussion; leading to curiosity, traffic, clicks & click-revenue ?

To be clear, I don't like it either. However ---

Those sites that won't let you on when you're using an ad blocker suck. I need an ad blocker for a smart TV. Trying to watch you tube stuff on it is frustrating.

If you have a Fire Stick you can load up an apk called Smart Tube. Solves all your problems. It's YT without all the BS.

I use AdBlock on one PC, you wouldn't know there were Ads, it doesn't even waste time patting itself on the back.

Fetch TV box you can skip most Ads after 5 seconds.

On my other PC I download the Vids with 4K Video downloader but I choose the Extract Audio option, load them on my phone and listen to them like a podcast driving to work. The downloader dumps the Ads.

Ad Block plus and Ad Guard Ultimate. I also use Privacy Guard.

I haven't looked to see if it's available for Android or iphone, but for a desktop I've used something called No-Script for years with Firefox.

X2 on the Brave browser. Takes only a minute to search it and install on your phone and PC. It really is that easy! Best thing I ever did! No more YouTube ads!
